Some people think children’s spending time on TV, video and PC games is good, while others think it is bad.

These days, it is factual that children spend much time watching TV and video, as well as playing PC games. One of the most obvious reasons is that children, who are naturally curious, cannot resist the temptation from the attractive programmes at all.
Those people who believe spending time on TV, video and PC game is damaging to children in many aspects. Probably, they point out that setting in front of a screen for too long time does harm to both eyes and physical posture of children. However, the most serious misgiving is that young children is negatively affected by the amount of violence and pornographic which are filled with video. Because they are lack of experience and self-control, so if there is no correct guidance, some of them will imitate the details of crimes shown in some videos or programmes.
Contrary to this view, others advocate that watching a proper amount of TV or video is really helpful for children to understand outside world. The evidence is based on that children, often watching TV, have a wider knowledge and a better understanding to our world. Also, it is an effective approach that children can relax their stressful brains from intense study. Therefore, those activities are beneficial to children’s development.
Overall, I have reason to believe that watching TV or video are necessary for modern children to obtain knowledge and information. But considering the potential problems, parents must ensure their children not spend too much time on it and give them a positive guide. At the same time, the government should to establish control over the mass media.
