step 1 greetings
t: good morning, boys and girls.
s: good morning, miss zhou.
step 2 free talk
t: ① hello/hi!

   ⑥ can you play football?
   ⑦ what can you do?

step 3 revision
①    have a revision of four shapes (show and say);
②    play a game: “what’s missing?”
step 4 leading and presentation
t: what’s this in english?
s: it’s a house.
t: is it nice?
s: yes, it is.
t: there are many shapes in this house. can you find them? what shapes can you see in the house?
s: i can see …
t: how many … can you see?
s: i can see …
t: (teach the new words: triangle, oval, star, heart)

step 5 consolidation (apple tree)
 t: look! there’s an apple tree on the tree on the screen. there are five apples with different colours. which is your favourite apple?
    which apple do you like? red? green? each apple refers to a shape.
 s: i like the red apple.
 t: ok! look! what shape is it?
 s: it’s a rectangle.
 t: ok! can you image what is a rectangle in our daily lives?
 s: (give some examples.)
step 6 presentation
     t: in our daily lives, there are many shapes. we can find them everywhere. look! i have a picture. what’ this?
     s: it’s a kite.
     t: good. look at the screen, please. what’ this?
     s: it’s a kite, too.
     t: good. look! miss li and her students are having an art lesson. what’s the boy doing?
     s: he’s flying a kite.
     t: what shape is the kite?
     s: it’s a square.
     t: that’s right. the boy has a bag. what shape is it? is it a square, too?
     s: no. it’s a rectangle.
     t: good. now look at me, please. (draw a circle) what am i doing?
     s: you are drawing a circle.
     t: how many circles can you see?
     s: i can see five circles.
     t: yes. it’s a kite, too. can you draw a circle?
     s: yes, i can.
     t: come to the blackboard and show us how to do it. it looks like the sun. what shape is the sun?
     s: it’s a circle.
     t: good. the sun is a circle. what shape is the moon?
     s: it’s a circle, too.
step 7 listen to the tape and act the dialogue
①    listen to the tape;
②    read after the tape;
